"Accept everything but nothing" is the mantra by which Michaël Viger strives to advance his creativity. Michaël Viger is a Franco-Austrian artist. Painter and filmmaker. Awarded in Austria and Italy whose works have been exhibited throughout Europe (from Vienna to Manchester). As a student, he attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Versailles where he discovered his passion for painting. During his film career, he mixes drawing, writing, filming and also his love for jazz. He began his career as a filmmaker at Arte as an investigator specializing in World War II veterans before joining Henri Verneuil as an assistant on the film "Mayrig" with Omar Sharif and Claudia Cardinale. Over a period of 30 years, he worked on several well-known films, including: "The Man in the Iron Mask" with Leonardo DiCaprio, "Harrison's Flowers" with Andie McDowell, Adrien Brody and Gerard Butler, "The Visitors" with Christian Clavier and Jean Reno, "The curse of Edgar" with Brian Cox and many others. INSPIRATION: His works clearly reflect the world of jazz and film, a tribute to smoky New York jazz clubs with sparkling musical instruments and soulful musicians. He is also inspired by the golden age of the film industry of the 1930s and 1950s, with the compositions of images by Alfred Hitchcock, the intensity of Orson Welles, those featuring their muses Kim Novak , Grace Kelly or Tippi Hadren. His inspiration is really to capture a moment that will tell a story through a look or a position. Michaël Viger is a painter-director directing his brushes to give the spectators the strange impression of wanting to know the rest of the story. In the field of art and photography, his paintings have a touch of Edward Hopper, Klimt, Mary Cassatt, Monet and Gauguin, but also photographers like Saul Leiter, Vivian Maier or Robert Doisneau have an imprint on his work. Its unique style blends with the extraordinary support. It combines the classic with the industrial. A hyper realistic painting on timber. After a long search, he discovered by chance the canvas that marks the singularity of his works, a wooden plank from a construction scaffolding. He recovers it, heals it and gives it life and new meaning. This medium has since become his trademark.
